MCBRIDE Family History

Recorded as MacBride, McBride, Bride, Bryde, the diminutives Bridie, Brydie, and Bridey, this is a Gaelic surname of both Irish and Scottish origins. It derives either from the pre 10th century Irish Mac giolla Brighde or the Scottish Mac gille Brighde, and translates as "The son of the follower of St Bridget", one of the early Christian saints. The personal name originally 'Brighid' is of uncertain etymology, but may mean "exalted", and was probably that given to a pagan fire goddess, albeit that many of her attributes are now associated with the historical figure of St. Brigit of Kildare (452-523). She was the founder of the first Irish convent...

My McBride heritage begins at my gg grandmother.  She was Margaret (Peggy) McBride who married John Bright Warren.  They were both from Petersburg, TN.  Her parents were George Washington McBride and Mary (Polly) Hopkins Cook.  It seems he was from Guilford, NC and she was from Virginia.  They died in Pulaski, Giles County, TN.  From here, it gets tricky to me.  There are James and John McBrides, but I can't narrow down which is the correct one.  Other people seem to have chosen one, but not all chose the same one.  I can't make heads or tails of it.  My best guess is the John who came over from Ireland and arrived in Maryland in 1737, but I am only guessing.  HELP!!!

I am looking for Henry McBride & Mary McBride (Malone) whose son Bernard McBride emigrated to Australia in 1865. I cannot find any records of Henry and Mary after the birth of their children in Dundalk. I have traced one daughter to Cavan. Trying to find where Henry came from as I don't think he was native to Dundalk. Where do most McBrides come from in Ireland?

McBride Any Presbyterian McBrides who left County Tyrone early 1850s for the US? James McBride, Mary Fleming and children were from Clogher, County Tyrone. They left their youngest child (Charles McBride, born 1852) with Mary's mother (Letitia). He came to Australia in 1871 at the age of 18. He is my Gx2 grandfather.

Hello Amy.  It looks like we are related.  Hezy is my Great Grandfather.  Hezy's son, Bobby Joe McBride, is my Grandfather and his son, Bobby Lee McBride, is my Father.

I just started doing a bit of family tree searching, but I believe that I found something showing that John McBride was born in 1767 in Dublin Ireland. ?

From John Wilson McBride: I am descended from Cork McBrides. My father, James Tait McBride was born 1897 in the City of Cork (Victoria Road). His father, John McBride immigrated to Cork from Scotland. A Presbyterian, he married Jessie Tait in September 1893 at Midleton Co. Cork. Jessie Tait lived at a farm called The Hermitage which still exists and has Tait descendants in residence. John and Jessie has two sons, William (my uncle Bill) and James (my father). I am currently in Cork obtaining necessary information to become Irish citizenship. My parents emigrated to England. My dad was in the Royal Airforce, stationed at RAF ran well, Lincolnshire where I was born in 1948. According to records obtained from John Faris, Pastor of Cork Trin
