CORLEY Family History

This most interesting name with variant spellings Kerley, Turley, Terry and McTerrelly, found particularly in the counties of Galway and Roscommon, is an Anglicized form of the Gaelic name "Mac Thoirdealbhoigh". This is composed of the Gaelic prefix "mac", meaning "son of", and the personal name "Toridhealbhach", having as its first element the Scandinavian name "Thor" (God of Thunder) and the second element "dealbhach", "in the shape of". The name has also been Anglicized as "Terence" and "Terry".

Hello! I'm working on my ancestry, and my Great Grandma Ball's name was Allie Corley (maiden). I believe she was born in the late 1800s-early 1900s. She lived in in Miami, FL when she passed. I only have vague memories of her giving me crackers. My momma called Allie's father (I believe) Papa Corley. I've always been drawn to our Irish and family history in particular, and I look forward to discovering more!

    ?(approximately early to mid 1700's)
?and then moved to Georgia U.S.   ?He was an engineer
and fought in the War of 1812 against the British.?

I am looking for information about John Corley, born 1806 in (I believe) County Mayo, Ireland. He was living in South Sherbrooke, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada in 1821/22. He may have went to Canada with brothers Thomas and Patrick....? He was married to Ellen Moynahan and their son Patrick (born 1837) is my GGgrandfather. I have been unable to find any information about where John was born, lived, emigrated, when he married Ellen. I know he died in Ontario in 1883. Any information would be very much appreciated!!

Dear Kym, My name is Paddy (Patrick) Corley. I have done some research on my own family and can send you a file if you send me your email address. Mine is paddy.corley@gmail.com. I was born in Mayo and can trace my family back to 1798. There is a cluster of the family in central Mayo and it is very likely that your ancestor is a descendent of one of these families. Paddy.
